In 2018, by the mercy of God, Tsvetan Petkov was ordained to the holy diaconate by Archbishop Gregorios of blessed memory. At his ordination, he received the name Ioan (John), in honour of the great Bulgarian ascetic, St John of Rila, who remains a shining example of humility, prayer, and steadfast faith.

Alongside Fr Pancratios, Deacon John served faithfully at the holy altar, assisting in the divine services and becoming a beloved member of our parish. In 2021, the Lord called him to a higher ministry, and through the grace of the Holy Spirit, he was ordained to the holy priesthood. In February 2023, Fr John was appointed parish priest at St Barbara’s, where he continues to labour for the glory of God and the salvation of souls.
