Celebrating 40 Years of Pilgrimage to Holywell

With hearts full of joy, we give thanks to God for another wonderful and blessed pilgrimage to St Winifred’s Well in Holywell.

This year was particularly special as we celebrated the 40th anniversary of our annual pilgrimage to Holywell, four decades of faith, prayer, and devotion.

On this joyous occasion, 234 pilgrims gathered at this holy place, united in faith and thanksgiving.

A special thank you goes to the 28 dedicated pilgrims who walked overnight from St Barbara, Chester to Holywell, demonstrating remarkable faith and devotion.

We were also delighted to find two young men who walked all the way from Chester, completing their journey in just 5 hours and 55 minutes! They had already arrived and were waiting for us when we reached Holywell.

Bishop Maximus expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who organised, supported and participated in this beautiful celebration. His Grace praised the excellent and flawless organisation and extended his blessings to all.

We offer our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to making this 40th anniversary pilgrimage such a memorable and spiritually uplifting occasion.

May God bless all our pilgrims, especially those who made the journey on foot, and may He grant us the strength and faith to continue this beautiful tradition for many generations to come.

Glory to God for all things! 🙏
